As you know, improving our oral skills is one of the main goals of our school subject. Speaking a foreign language fluently takes time and lots of practice, and being able to sound natural when speaking it is quite hard, especially as the grammar of spoken English is quite different from the grammar of written English. One thing we can do is to examine the linguistic forms native speakers use in speech so that we learn to identify some of the most common markers of spoken language. This will enable us to find ways to incorporate some of these forms in our oral work. Click on this link to see a transcript of the video.
In addition, we have two more videos to work on at English Central, dateline by January 27th. Enjoy!
This blog is designed for the 2011-12 students in the Ampliación de Inglés class at IES Renacimiento.

Dealing with success
According to Elliot Easton (lead guitarist and singer with The Cars), what problems do successful people face? What's the secret to coping with success as a well-known pop star? Listen and take notes of his ideas.
Solo career
You can click on this link to see the pictures and on this link, where you will find the related activities. You will also find a list of useful linking words you can use for your story here.
Since we are dealing with the topic of success and stress, I'd like you to watch this video in which people answer the question "What makes you feel stressed?"
You can get ideas to anwswer this question from what the people said here. Reading comments 1-30 is compulsory.
Once you feel you're ready you can write or record your comments on this wall (all comments should be posted by January 20th).
Happy posting!

Homework for the New Year
Dear students
Let me first wish you the best for the new year now that it's only hours before we have to go back to school again! Since you've been good kids I'm sure you've got nice gifts from the three Kings!
Here's some homework for the new year. You will be given a vocabulary test on Tuesday, so make sure you go through all the new words and expressions in the selection of videos at English Central.
